Chris Jones had a Super Bowl ring. Now he has a new contract.
The Kansas City Chiefs confirmedreports Monday afternoon that they had reached a one-year deal with Jones,ESPN's Adam Schefter reportedthat the contract does not include an annual feeand includes multiple incentives that could add to Jones' 2023 earnings The report states. Specific terms of the deal, including how the multi-million dollar fineJones imposed during the holdoutwould be resolved, were not initially reported.
Jones was in the final season of a four-year, $80 million contract. He feels he has surpassed that contract, and the latestfive-year, $170 million dealwith San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa
reinforced that Jones is due for a raise. Holding out for a preseason was Jones' way of exerting his influence.

"It's always been my goal to be Chief for life. I've said that many times," Jones said via The Athletic's Nate Taylor. 'They know where my position is.
Jones is coming off his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl season. He recorded a career-best-tying 15.5 sacks and was named to the All-Pro first team for the first time. He also helped the Chiefs win their second Super Bowl in the past four seasons. It is clear that he is the best defensive player for the growing Chiefs. He wanted such a reward.
It took a while for Jones and the Chiefs to reach an agreement. Finally, Jones got the raise he wanted. And now he looks set to return to the field Sunday in Kansas City's Week 2 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
